Manufacturing Engineer (2nd Shift 3pm – 11:30pm)

Excellent opportunity for a dynamic person to join a cable manufacturing company as a Manufacturing Engineer. The successful candidate will apply industrial and/or mechanical engineering techniques in the development of work instruction documentation, process procedures, tooling and fixturing. Provide manufacturing process support to manufacturing operations by developing efficient and cost-effective methods and procedures.

Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:

  • Interface with Sales, Production, Quality, and Training to coordinate the introduction of new products to production Six months experience on cables assembly (Test & Inspection).
  • Write and review Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s) and work instructions and share them to the appropriate departments.
  • Experience with IPC 620 (a plus).
  • Assure procedures and documents are within compliance of ISO-9001Use of PC.
  • Responsible for the development of safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • E Develop of process layouts.
  • Implement of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and conducts process capability studies on critical processes.
  • Review of product design drawings.
  • Design of tooling, fixturing, and boards.
  • Develop visual aids.
  • Prepare labor, material, tooling, and equipment cost estimates for proposals.
  • Continually drive the utilization of advanced quality tools and techniques: Six Sigma, Effective Root Cause Analysis, Effective Use and Analysis of Data, and Lean Manufacturing.Perform time and motion studies.
  • Participate and suggest cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
  • Work with design engineering to improve the manufacturability of our products.
  • Implement the manufacture of new products or product lines with the emphasis on using the safest, most efficient process and lean manufacturing design.
  • Support and lead continuous improvement efforts within and outside the responsible department.
  • Effective in working both independently and in team settings.

  • Achieve activities / responsibilities in time, with the highest quality and efficiency.

Expertise:

  • Three (3) years of experience in manufacturing cable assemblies or in a manufacturing environment.
  • Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001, and Six Sigma.
  • Statistical Process Control.
  • Lean tools such as but not limited to Kaizen, Quick Changeover, Poka-yoke, kanban, etc.
  • Time motion studies.
  • Line balancing.
  • Raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • PC: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Above average computer skills to enable incumbent to utilize database, spreadsheet, word processing programs, statistical and Computer Aided Drafting programs.

Education/Experience:

  • Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in Manufacturing (1 year) as a Product Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Spanish is a plus.
